Underlying this narrative throughout is the story of the sea, which allowed the islanders and their continental neighbours to be in constant contact. ![]() Using the most up to date archaeological evidence together with new work on DNA and other scientific techniques which help us to trace the origins and movements of these early settlers, Barry Cunliffe offers a rich narrative account of the first islanders - who they were, where they came from, and how they interacted one with another. ![]() From that time onwards Britain and Ireland have been continuously inhabited and the resident population has increased from a few hundreds to more than 60 million.īritain Begins is nothing less than the story of the origins of the British and the Irish peoples, from around 10,000BC to the eve of the Norman Conquest. That part was not merely distracting but also frustrating and aggravating. Highly recommended.Įven though I found much of this love story between Walker Reed and Roan Carmichael to be really heartwarming, sweet, and sexy, I hated the game show aspects of it, with the necessary intrusions of the people in charge and some of the other contestants. This audiobook came to me, by my request, as a free review copy. He gets a well-deserved 5+ stars from me. John Solo! The voice-acting by John Solo for this book is truly one of the best performances that I’ve had the pleasure of listening to. But it all ends in a long-awaited steamy scene and a happily-ever-after. In the meantime, the authors deliver some cute rom-com hijinks, show producers manufacturing ‘drama’ and a few tear-inducing sad moments. The spark of attraction is immediate but their story is a slow-burn. Neither one is looking for love, but it finds them anyway. Walker, the ranch-owning bachelor, and Roan, one of the show’s suitors are only doing the show for money. I don’t watch much reality TV, but I sure did enjoy this sweet and comedic take on it. ![]() Reality show shenanigans and unexpected love are on offer in Indra Vaughn and Leta Blake’s witty take on a ‘The Bachelor’-esque ‘Queer Meets Spouse’ production. ![]() ![]() The novel generally follows the same premise and beats as the movie.
